HDD worked closely with architects and engineers for the Smurfit Kappa Group to design proposals and submit a planning application for a major factory extension. Works which have now been competed include major earthworks and screen planting to ensure the factory fitted seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. Works also included the diversion of a stream and public footpath and the re-creation of an area of public open space with extensive planting, picnic benches and habitat enhancement works. HDD also wrote a Management and Maintenance Plan for the new public open space.
The many tons of soil removed from the site are being used locally at the ‘Park in The Past’ site in the nearby village of Hope.
