HDD were appointed to undertake designs for an area of public open space within Upton, Conservation Area in Chester. The community garden known locally as ‘The Cock Pit ‘was once attached to Upton Cross House. Later the site was laid extensively laid out as a landscape feature and formed part of the much larger piece of land know as ‘Sandhole Croft’. Prior to the works the site had become overgrown with trees and shrubs was very dark and was attracting anti-social behaviour.

The design included tree clearance to open the site up, new access paths, boundary treatments, soft landscaping and interpretation signs.

Staff at HDD were responsible for all stages of design, and oversaw the implementation of the construction works on site.
