Station Road, Housing Scheme

HDD were appointed by Pennaf Housing Association to work alongside JPH architects on this development of 21 houses. HDD’s role included design of the site layout to bring it in line with Manual for Streets, Code for Sustainable Homes, and Lifetime Homes and the design of external works elements.

The development site was covered by species rich meadow, and a number of trees which were protected by TPO’s. HDD were responsible for management of pre-construction works required in order to discharge planning conditions relating to these environmental constraints.  Discharge of pre commencement conditions included:

  • management of a contract to translocate orchids from the site to a nearby donor site. This included working with a local contractor to develop a unique method for the translocation, involving the fabrication of a bespoke machine bucket in order to delicately remove the species rich turf from the development site.
  • liaison with the local planning authority on all matters relating to trees, this included a detailed arboricultural survey and Arboricultural Impact Assessment, Tree Protection Plan and BS5837 report and the management of pre-commencement tree felling works.
