HDD were appointed by Smurfit Kappa as part of the design team for a large factory extension (11,700m2 of floor space), in Mold The factory was sited on the edge of Mold Town centre. The scheme required a land swap of an area of public open space, diversion of a Public Right of Way and a watercourse.
HDD provided all layout designs for the site, soiling and levels plans and external works detailed design. HDD also undertook community consultation and an LVIA for the scheme.
Key to gaining planning consent was providing a new area of public open space containing the diverted public right of way and water course. The new corridor was carefully designed to create betterment for footpath users. The scheme now designed has been extremely well received.
The scheme included created an attractive new surfaced footpath adjacent to the water course.. Extensive off-site planting was undertaken to screen the new factory. Planting undertaken to increase biodiversity of the site
