Now construction works are complete, nature is moving in to Camberwell Old Cemetery. HDD designed and project managed over £1 million worth of remediation works, earth modelling and final landscape finishes to create new burial areas at Camberwell Old Cemetery in London. The scheme was carefully designed to encourage biodiversity, and it is looking very good.
Southwark’s Biodiversity officer is monitoring butterflies on the site and has spotted species including: Small White, Speckled Wood, Small Blue, Small Copper, Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper, Green Veined White, Ringlet Large Skipper. When visiting the site Southwark’s Biodiversity Officer commented ‘This is a very good example of sensitive landscaping providing real Biodiversity Net Gain.’
