For the last 18 months we have been working really hard alongside Lambeth Council to undertake survey work, prepare designs, submit planning applications and listed building consents for £4 million of conservation and restoration works for West Norwood Cemetery. We have been supported by the dedicated Friends of West Norwood Cemetery and the Scheme of Management throughout. The Heritage Lottery Fund application if successful. will enable works to 16 listed monuments which are currently At Risk (including the St Stephens mortuary chapel), the remodeling and extension of the existing lodge to create a new visitor centre and accommodation for bereavement service staff. Extensive works to the sites infrastructure are also planned including re-surfacing footpaths, improving drainage, repairs to listed boundary walls and sitewide landscape improvements. The project also includes the creation of 2 new entrances into the cemetery.
